Enjoying Autumn Colors in Litchfield County

It’s no secret in New England, that when the fog settles in the morning and evenings, that Autumn is here. The cold mornings, but comfortable afternoons are a hallmark to the season of change. Flip flops can go back in the summer shoe bin, but the comfort of a hot morning coffee picked up the slack.

If you’re a property owner here in New Milford, you’ll notice the seasonal tempo naturally, as you see your lawn start to get sprinkled and then covered with leaves and tree nuts. FYI, most of the tree nuts in the land are edible, from Acorns to Hickory Nuts, even Dogwood berries are a little something you can enjoy as you see the trees bare their annual yield.

The colors of change also come with a challenge, the wall of colder air and with that, the heating bills for the season. We bought a cord of firewood last season about this time, it came in handy all year long, and is still the cheapest heating fuel you can get. Now is a great time to do some local searches for places that deliver and stack.

For the best coffee in town, put on a scarf and go visit River and Rail Cafe, a walk down and around the green is an ultimate pastime for anyone with an hour to spare, and a heart yearning for some color and comfort.
